Q: How much does it cost to be a candidate and to run in an election?

A: The minimum spend will be your application fee to the party of $150 plus the Electoral Commission nomination fee (currently $250 for QLD State Elections) plus the cost of your minimum advertising materials obligation.

Q: Why do I need a minimum amount of advertising material?

A: Pauline Hanson's One Nation wants candidates that are passionate about connecting with the entire electorate. Unfortunately no one can be in a dozen places at once, but a sign can. Candidates need a minimum amount of advertising material to run an effective campaign.

Q: How much time do I have to spend campaigning?

A: The amount of time spent campaigning is the candidate's decision. However, the result is going to be significantly dependent on the effort and time that goes into campaigning. If you make the decision to become a candidate, you don't want to be wondering what, "could have been" had you dedicated a few more hours each week to the campaign.

Q: Is being a candidate a paid position?

A: No. One Nation is a minor political party and does not have the funds pay people to stand as candidates. All One Nation candidates campaign because they truly care for their community and want to make a difference. If One Nation receives substantial donations, we are happy to help with campaign promotional costs.

Q: I would like to run as a candidate however I'm not sure how to. Does One Nation provide candidate training?

A: Yes, One Nation provides candidates with information and training so that they are empowered throughout their election campaign. One Nation also has office staff, a candidate management committee and also our leader, Pauline Hanson, available to guide our candidates. You will be provided with assistance in artwork design for advertising material as well as guidance on Facebook campaigning and Electoral Commission requirements.

The only thing you will need to have before becoming a candidate is a good work ethic and your passion to serve the community, One Nation will give you everything else.

Q: Are their any other rules or information I need to be aware of?

A: Please refer to the Electorate Acts for more information.
