I was elected to the Federal Parliament in March 2017 after running my own electrical business in Perth for the past 20 years.
As a Senator for Western Australia, my job is to represent all residents of the state and fight for their interests at Parliament House in Canberra. The best part about being a Senator is meeting lots of different people and learning about their passions and concerns.
The main issues I am representing Western Australia on include getting a fairer share of GST distribution, making sure the banks are honest in the way they deal with their customers, ensuring regional WA is considered for major Federal projects and helping small businesses grow.
My story is unlike the typical politician. My parents migrated to Perth from Greece in the 1970s to give my family a great life. I was born in Perth soon after they moved here and after finishing high school, I built a successful small business ‘Georgiou Electrical’.
Perth may be the most isolated city in the world but it’s exactly why I’m determined to help showcase the city and state to the world. WA is an awesome state to live in, with beautiful beaches, from Broome to Esperance, with premium wineries in Margaret River, mining sites which are among the biggest in the world and everyday people who wear their hearts on their sleeves when it comes to getting the best deal for WA.
It’s an honour to be an Australian Senator and an even greater privilege to represent the people of Perth and Western Australia.
I won’t let you down
