Thomas is standing for One Nation in the Illawarra electorate of Cunningham where he grew up. He’s strongly motivated to put his hand up for his community because his concern for the future of Australia has grown over the past few years.
"On my daily commute to work, I see our roads and intersections gridlocked in rush hour and public transport packed. Yet instead of talking about cutting immigration to sustainable levels or building tomorrow’s infrastructure, the biggest issue on the government’s mind is personality politics and 'woke' agendas like implementing gender quotas."
Thomas is passionate about making Australia as self-reliant as possible by bringing back Australian manufacturing and innovation. Current politicians have failed to construct dams and expand our nation's water security for our ever-increasing population. Instead, they have privatised Australia’s water with more than 20% sold to foreign investors, while withholding the records of those who trade in this precious commodity. "Enough is enough. As One Nation highlights in its policies on water, infrastructure, and manufacturing, we need to think about long-term investment in Australia’s future, like the Hybrid Bradfield Scheme and more."
Australia needs a national plan that guarantees low-cost, reliable, dispatchable power by building new low-emission coal-fired power stations and supports the investigation into nuclear power. "We need to restore Australia’s essential 90-day fuel security policy with on-shore oil reserves and the capacity to refine fuels for domestic supply. Australia’s abundant natural resources should be for the prosperity of our own citizens instead of our global competitors."
Governments need to cut the red and 'Green' tape that hampers progress, and instead, let small businesses do what they do best—growing our economy and creating more local jobs. "We need businesses and borders to open without restrictions. We need an end to the vaccine mandates and a Royal Commission into COVID to establish what the expert advice was that enabled state governments to put lockdowns, QR code tracking, and coercive restrictions in place. We need our lives back. We need our country back.
"One Nation will always fight to protect the rights and freedoms of Australians, and so will I."
