ONE NATION ENERGY POLICY: ENDING ‘NET ZERO’ AND BUILDING ENERGY SECURITY FOR ALL AUSTRALIANS

One Nation supports Australian gas as a key national asset for our economy, our regions, and our energy security. Gas production supports well paid, skilled jobs across regional Australia from exploration and drilling through to processing, transport and maintenance. These jobs help keep regional communities alive, backing local businesses, schools and services that depend on steady work and steady wages. Gas is also essential for many Australian manufacturers that rely on it not just as a fuel, but as a feedstock for fertiliser, plastics, chemicals and food processing. A strong Australian gas industry means stronger regional communities, resilient supply chains, and a real base for rebuilding domestic industry rather than watching it move offshore.

Australian gas is also central to our energy sovereignty and our ability to plan for the future on our terms. We have large gas reserves, long standing infrastructure, and a skilled workforce already in place. One Nation believes Australian gas should first and foremost serve Australian households and businesses, with export volumes balanced against the need for secure and affordable domestic supply.

One Nation will advocate for the establishment of a national domestic gas reserve, requiring that a minimum 15% of all gas extracted from Australian sources be provided solely to the domestic market with the primary aim of bringing down gas costs for households and industry. By using more Australian gas at home we can reduce exposure to overseas price shocks, support reliable power and industrial heat, and keep more of the value of our resources in Australia. One Nation will also lift any bans on new gas appliances in Australian households.

Australia’s energy policy should treat Australian gas as a strategic asset that helps keep the lights on, keeps industry working, and puts Australians first.

One Nation will seek to end the rort on Australia’s natural gas resources which allows extractors to pay hardly any royalties in Australia. We will levy royalties at the point of production based on volume, not profits. Producers will benefit from the elimination of much red, green and black tape, and the measure is expected to raise about $10-13 billion per year in tax revenue. One Nation will also move to end the effective moratorium on offshore gas and petroleum exploration.
