Lee Hanson is a proud mother, long-time Tasmanian resident, and passionate community advocate who brings integrity, empathy, and action to everything she does. With more than 20 years of senior leadership experience across higher education, water and sewerage, government business enterprises, tourism, and banking, Lee knows what it takes to deliver results—and she’s not afraid of hard work.

“I’ve built a career solving tough problems, leading teams through transformation, and making systems work better for people,” Lee says. “I don’t just talk about change—I get in, get to the root of the issue, and get it done.”

Lee moved to Tasmania over 13 years ago, married a local, and is now raising two Tasmanian-born children. Her deep connection to the state and its people is what drives her to stand up for the community. She believes Tasmanians deserve better—better healthcare, better access to education, and better opportunities for their families.

“We live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, but people are being left behind,” Lee says. “Our hospitals are overwhelmed, GPs are turning away new patients, and mental health services are practically non-existent. We have families waiting years just to get their child into a paediatrician. That’s not good enough.”

Lee is also deeply concerned about Tasmania’s education system, housing crisis, and rising cost of living. She sees these challenges as interconnected—and solvable.

“Our kids deserve a real chance at a future,” she says. “Right now, our education system is broken. Teachers are struggling, kids are slipping through the cracks, and families are doing it tough. I believe Tasmania can be a leader in reform if we rebuild our education system from the ground up.”

In her career, Lee has led teams of up to 100 people and been recognised for her ability to deliver results in complex environments. She brings a collaborative, people-focused approach to leadership and believes in getting the job done with empathy and conviction.

“I take responsibility. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll find it. If something’s broken, I’ll fix it,” she says. “Letting people down is not an option for me.”

Lee is known for her ability to put herself in others’ shoes and understand different perspectives. It’s a quality she sees as essential in leadership—especially when it comes to building policies that work for the long term.

“I want to put in place solutions that stand the test of time,” she says. “Not just quick fixes—real change that benefits everyone.”

Lee also acknowledges the role her upbringing played in shaping her values. “I have the privilege of my mother being one of the most tenacious, resilient and strongest women in Australia; Pauline Hanson. Those values have carried through to me—she’s always been my role model.”

“But I am my own woman. I bring my own strength and convictions. I’m part of a younger generation with a new lens and different life experiences. I’m fresh blood—and I’m ready to get to work.”

As the One Nation candidate for the Tasmanian Senate, Lee is ready to bring common sense, compassion and real-world experience into Parliament. She’s not a career politician—she’s a mother, a worker, and a community member who’s ready to fight for everyday Tasmanians.

“I love this state. I care about our future. And I’ll do everything I can to make it better—for my children, and for yours.”

I don’t just talk about problems—I fix them. Tasmania deserves leaders who deliver results, and I’ll fight every day to make life better for our families.
