Charles Smith is part of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation WA as the Member representing the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Perth. He was elected to the Fortieth Parliament for the East Metropolitan Region on 20 April 2017 for a term commencing on 22 May 2017. He is also a Member of the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation: 15 June 2017–present.
Charles is a former frontline police officer with the Western Australian Police, spending the majority of his policing career in rural and remote WA living in the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. As a police officer Charles specialised in domestic violence and child protection work, before leaving in 2013 to join the Department of Mines and Petroleum as a liaison officer.
Charles brings a wealth of regional and rural Western Australian political knowledge and contacts to Pauline Hanson’s One Nation which should see the party in good stead going into the future.
Charles is firmly committed to supporting the WA Police, proposing tougher criminal legislation and sentencing, and addressing the flatlining standards in the educational outcomes for our children in WA.
