Peter Bogatec is a proud Australian with a deep commitment to serving his country and community. As a barrister who advocates for veterans in family law proceedings, a former military officer, and a strong defender of Australian values, Peter is standing for One Nation to fight for a stronger, more independent and self-sufficient Australia.

Born in Woodside, Peter spent his high school years living in the Sturt electorate, where he worked at a local petrol station. “I remember when fuel was affordable, and everyday Australians weren’t burdened by endless taxes and government mismanagement,” he recalls. “Now, the cost of living is out of control, and politicians are doing nothing to fix it.

Peter comes from a family with deep roots in Australia descended from a convict who married a young German migrant. He values the contribution of hard-working migrants who embrace the Australian way of life, integrating and contributing positively to their communities. However, he strongly believes that immigration must be managed properly to ensure infrastructure, housing and jobs remain accessible to Australians first.

Peter’s career has been defined by service. Joining the Royal Australian Navy at just 16, he went on to serve as a NSW Police Officer, an Army Reserve Officer, and ultimately as a Commando Officer in Special Operations Command, graduating from the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He completed 28 years of service, discharging as a Major, gaining firsthand experience in national security, community safety and leadership.

After transitioning to civilian life, Peter earned a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice and a Bachelor of International Studies in 2020. His time at university exposed him to the increasing dominance of far-left ideologies in education. “DEI policies and radical activism are overshadowing conservative, Christian and family values. This must be addressed if we want to preserve the core principles that built Australia.

Peter is deeply concerned about Australia’s economic stability, national security, and strategic fuel reserves. He believes that successive governments have failed to safeguard Australia’s energy independence, allowing foreign entities to dictate our resources and supply chains. He is committed to restoring Australia’s ability to be self-sufficient and ensuring our industries and defence capabilities are not compromised.

Peter is an active member of the Sturt community and enjoys target shooting, hunting, fishing, cooking, motorsport and supporting his daughter’s sports. He believes that real leadership comes from listening to the people and taking a strong stand against government overreach.

I have spent my life serving Australia, and I am ready to serve again by standing up for hardworking Australians. We need strong leadership, not career politicians who put global interests before the people of Sturt.
