Linda Champion is a fair dinkum Aussie who loves her country and the Australian people. She’s concerned about this country's direction and wants to help put Australia back on track.
Born to a hardworking couple, Linda grew up in Salisbury North and is married with children and grandchildren, living in Hewett.
"I am a proud northerner who is very grateful to have experienced much diversity in my upbringing, and I wouldn't trade it for anything."
As a machinist at Levi's factory in Elizabeth in the 1990s, Linda saw firsthand how 'import tariff removal' led to the closure of local manufacturing plants, including Levi's, Bridgestone, and Holden, putting thousands of locals out of work.
"Not everyone can work behind a desk, go to university, or survive on an apprenticeship. I, along with One Nation, believe we must reimplement import tariffs to protect the remaining industry and put Australian jobs first."
Linda has enjoyed a diverse career, including sales, owning a local small business, and recently graduating from law school with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree.
"I went to law school to pursue my passion for justice. That led me to One Nation and the candidacy of Spence. This is how I will make a difference."
Linda will focus on being a strong voice for people in the north and will back that up with action.
She supports One Nation’s call for a Royal Commission into the management of COVID-19. "It's time we learned the truth about the health advice and management of this health response which has devasted communities including ours."
Linda will also push for Citizen Initiated Referenda which enables citizens to take direct action on legislation instead of waiting on politicians. “I believe it's time for change. It’s time to stop voting for the status quo,” she said.
"Give a born and bred northerner a chance and together we will finally make a difference."
