  • Leonardo Panetta

Leonardo Panetta represents the true Australian spirit—a land of opportunity, diversity, and resilience. Immigrating from Argentina during the Falklands War in 1981, Leonardo embraced his new home with gratitude and determination. Now, as a small business owner in the construction industry, he has firsthand experience of the challenges faced by hardworking Australians and the importance of fostering economic independence and community values.

“I’ve seen what it means to start fresh in a country that offers a fair go to everyone,” Leonardo reflects. “That’s why I’m committed to preserving the Australian way of life and ensuring our children have the same opportunities we had.”

Leonardo is deeply passionate about reducing government interference and promoting personal freedoms. He believes small businesses are the backbone of a strong economy and advocates for cutting the red tape that stifles entrepreneurship and innovation. “Without small businesses, you don’t have a strong economy,” he explains. “We need less government intervention and more freedoms for everyday Australians.”

A devoted family man, Leonardo lives in Gippsland with his wife and three children. Beyond his business and family life, he volunteers as a soccer coach, fostering teamwork and resilience in young players. He’s also a proud supporter of Australian sports culture, from his beloved Richmond Tigers to cricket, while staying connected to his Argentine roots through soccer.

Leonardo is determined to tackle the rising cost-of-living crisis. “Skyrocketing energy bills, unaffordable housing, and basic necessities out of reach—it’s becoming impossible for families to make ends meet,” he says. “We need immediate action to ease these burdens and secure a prosperous future for all Australians.”

He also stands firmly against “woke” culture and censorship, believing in the importance of free speech and a merit-based society. “A fair go means equal opportunity, not equal outcomes,” Leonardo asserts.

Leonardo is calling on the people of La Trobe to support his vision for a stronger, freer, and more prosperous Australia. “I’ll always have the courage to stand up for what’s right and fight for the issues that matter to you,” he promises. “Together, we can make the Australian dream a reality for everyone.”
