Keep Great Keppel Island

The name Great Keppel Island belongs to all Australians, representing an iconic destination for domestic and international tourists and the home for a number of permanent residents.

We oppose any move by the Queensland Government to change the name of Great Keppel Island to its indigenous name 'Woppa' on the basis that it would damage the location's tourism potential and perpetuate ongoing racial division and separatism in Australia.

To the Honourable President and Members of the Senate in Parliament Assembled:

We, the undersigned, appeal to the Australian Senate to take any and all necessary action to preserve the name of Great Keppel Island.
