A hard-working Tasmanian, Melanie was born in Launceston and is proud to be Australian. She’s a devoted mother of four and worked in retail and customer service including a successful career at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Melanie chose to be a stay-at-home mum and focus on her family, assisting her partner in running a small business. Always actively involved with her local community, Melanie understands their concerns at a deep level. She is a voice for the voiceless and advocates for many.
"I've experienced many of life's struggles including growing up in a low-income household and being a young, single mother juggling work and raising my first child. I want a better future for my children and my fellow Australians. I envisage a future free of government and corporate overreach. I want to see our human rights reinstated, the return of our freedoms, and a prosperous future for our nation."
Standing for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation in the electorate of Bass at the next Federal election, Melanie believes we need real people and real voices representing the people instead of a political elite that is focused on serving its own corporate interests.
She prides herself on her honesty and integrity. It's Melanie's leadership skills and her strong involvement in local communities that motivated her to take these qualities to the political level.
Melanie has been a fan of Pauline Hanson and One Nation since she was a teenager and identifies with Pauline’s strength and determination.
A One Nation policy that Melanie is passionate about is the COVID-19 response. She believes in informed consent, without coercion and discrimination. "One Nation is pro-choice and strongly opposes the COVID-19 vaccine mandates imposed on Australian citizens. Senator Hanson has called for a Royal Commission into the pandemic management by the government and I support this."
Another important issue that One Nation opposes is the introduction of a Digital Identity Bill. "It highlights the dangers of the government collecting people’s personal data in a central database and the potential for this to become a tool for social control."
Melanie is aware that despite a $24.6 billion budget for state education services, Australia continues to rank lower than comparable high- and middle-income countries in achieving quality education outcomes. One Nation aims to restore critical thinking in the classroom and reinstate the cornerstone of education with reading, writing, arithmetic, and discipline. Melanie has a strong commitment to these goals as three of her children are still in primary education. "I would like to see all Australian children benefit from a merits-based, free-thinking society where critical thinking is nurtured."
Melanie has been working for the communities of Bass for many years. She and her family are strong sporting enthusiasts participating in sports such as netball, cricket, soccer, Auskick, and Little Athletics. Her family plays an active role in the support and running of many of these local sporting organisations.
A vote for Melanie Davy in Bass will be a vote for the people and their ability to live and thrive in a liberated and democratic society.
Make no mistake, Melanie will be a very strong voice for all Tasmanians.
