“CROWDSTRIKE 2.0”: 3G SHUTDOWN MUST BE POSTPONED

As the planned shutdown of the 3G Mobile Network approaches, there is growing pressure on the Federal Communications Minister to delay the transition.

According to Senator Roberts, the discontinuation could result in significant disruptions, affecting over one million devices, including 50,000 4G mobiles and critical devices such as pacemakers and medical alarms. Despite telcos' efforts to inform the public, a Senate enquiry revealed widespread unawareness of the shutdown's potential impact.

This includes crucial infrastructure like water metres, medical refrigeration units, and agricultural equipment. The call to postpone the shutdown is intensifying to prevent potential disasters, drawing comparisons to past crises like the CrowdStrike incident.
