Barnaby Joyce Makes It Official: Former Deputy PM Joins One Nation
Well, it’s official. Former Deputy Prime Minister and former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce has joined Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, marking one of the most significant political realignments in recent years.
The pair took to local radio in Tamworth this morning to make the announcement together, signalling a new partnership that is already being described as a major shift in Australia’s political landscape.
Speaking frankly about his decision, Barnaby Joyce acknowledged that some people may feel hurt by the move. However, he made it clear that his choice was driven by one thing: doing what he believes is best for the nation. He said he wants to be in a place where he can “deliver outcomes” and make a meaningful impact—something he believes One Nation now offers.
Joyce revealed that he and Senator Hanson have known each other for many years and have been discussing the possibility carefully and deliberately. After thoughtful conversations and a clear understanding of shared goals, Joyce accepted Hanson’s offer to join One Nation.
With the announcement behind him, Joyce says his focus now shifts entirely back to the Australian people—delivering results, standing up for communities, and helping shape a political future that puts Australians first.
