One Nation’s Bundaberg businessman for Flynn
A Bundaberg businessman and air force veteran is Pauline Hanson's One Nation candidate for Flynn.
David Harris has been on board since January, spruiking his intention to stand for the electorate against incumbent LNP member Colin Boyce.
“The major parties continue to push reckless green energy schemes that threaten our communities, industries, and way of life,” Mr Harris said on social media last week.
“The proposed Miriam Vale wind farm is yet another massive mistake-one that will scar our landscape, harm local wildlife, and do nothing to lower power prices.
“I will fight against this short-sighted, foreignbacked wind farm.
“We believe in energy security that works- not unreliable, high-cost renewables forced upon our communities without consultation.
Mr Harris said he supported coal, gas, and nuclear energy as cheap, reliable power for families and businesses He said he was an advocate of protecting prime agricultural land from ‘corporate green projects' and stopping taxpayer funding of ‘unreliable energy scams.'
Mr Harris spent nearly 12 years in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
The One Nation website said his vision was to build “a stronger, more prosperous Australia”.
“His time in the RAAF provided firsthand experience of teamwork, service, and the importance of policies that prioritise Australians first,” the website stated.
“David is focused on lowering the cost of living, improving access to affordable energy, and preserving local jobs.
“He firmly believes Australia's natural resources should benefit its citizens, not just large corporations.
“Advocating for low-emission coal-fired power stations and a balanced transition to renewable energy, David's energy policies aim to reduce household bills and ensure affordable, reliable power.
“As a business owner, David understands the challenges faced by local industries and is passionate about creating more opportunities for Australians through apprenticeships, infrastructure investment, and reducing reliance on foreign work visas.”
Mr Harris also nominated community safety as a top priority and said he was committed to supporting law enforcement and ensuring every Australian can feel secure at home and in their community.
“No one should ever have to fear for their safety. Our communities deserve better,” he said.
