FOREIGN PURCHASE PAUSE SLAMMED - “PATHETIC”

The Labor Government’s election promise to temporarily pause foreign purchases of existing residential real estate for two years has been slammed as too little, too late.

Senator Roberts said ‘The foreign buyer ban must be extended to new houses, made permanent and foreign owners must be forced to sell.

‘Australians want to be put first through tough action on foreign owners, not this pathetic shadow of a policy from Labor.

‘One Nation congratulates both the major parties for copying part of our foreign ownership policy, yet it’s time for them to go all in and copy our whole suite of changes.

‘Foreign buyers must be permanently banned from purchasing any housing in Australia. Any foreigner who owns a house here should be given 2 years to sell it to an Australian.

‘Labor has been denying reality for years, One Nation has forced them to acknowledge foreign buyers are making the housing crisis worse.

‘I look forward to the Government acknowledging their estimates for foreign purchases are out of touch with reality too, with real estate surveys indicating it’s more than 10%.

‘In the middle of a housing crisis, Australian houses should be prioritised for Australians first.’
