Another Mess For Pauline Hanson to Fix

Senator Pauline Hanson, leader of One Nation, declared our strong opposition to the recent Federal Court ruling in the case involving Roxanne Tickle, a transgender woman, who successfully brought a gender identity discrimination case against the women’s-only social media app, Giggle for Girls, and its owner, Sall Grover.

The case is known as Tickel vs Giggle, and it is making our country the laughingstock of the world.

In a decision that has sparked debate, Justice Robert Bromwich found that Ms. Grover had "indirectly discriminated" against Ms. Tickle, ordering Grover to pay $10,000 in damages and legal costs. Notably, the court also ruled that “sex is changeable,” a point contested by Ms. Grover, and the rest of the Australian community.

What has become clear from the ruling is that Australia is bound by international treaties we have signed that oblige us to determine that ‘gender is fluid’. These treaties are something that One Nation is seeking to have Australia pull out of, along with many other countries across the world.

In response to the decision, One Nation has vowed to introduce legislation that fixes this mess. It is in progress. Senator Hanson intends to challenge the court’s interpretation and reinforce the rights of women to maintain exclusive platforms without fear of legal repercussions for adhering to biological definitions of sex.

When this legislation goes to parliament, watch the vote very carefully. The Greens, Labor, most of the Liberals, Pocock, Lambie, and Payman—they'll all line up to have a go at us, and how they vote should determine where you put your trust at the next federal election.
