Senator Pauline Hanson Demands End to Divisive Welcome to Country Ceremonies
Senator Pauline Hanson has called for an end to daily "Welcome to Country" ceremonies in Parliament, labelling them as divisive tokenism that alienates millions of Australians. In her Senate speech, she stated that these rituals were never Aboriginal tradition and were only introduced in the 1970s. Senator Hanson argued for national unity, equal respect for all Australians — including migrants and non-Indigenous citizens — and rejected the idea that any one group should be permanently acknowledged above others. Her stance reflects growing public frustration with cultural division and performative politics.
