Pauline Hanson Calls for Review of Public Servant Salaries

One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson is calling for a review of high-level public servant salaries following confirmation of a 2.4 per cent pay rise for federal politicians, top bureaucrats, and departmental heads. While Hanson declined to criticise the pay bump for MPs—including a $15,000 raise for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese—she focused instead on what she described as excessive salaries for senior public officials, some of whom earn upwards of $700,000, and in some cases over $1 million.

Speaking to Sky News, Hanson expressed frustration at what she called “ridiculous” pay packets for roles like Postmaster-General and departmental secretaries. The pay rise, part of the 2025 Review of Remuneration for Holders of Public Office, has been labelled “modest” by the tribunal responsible, citing stagnation over the past decade. Hanson defended her silence on politician wages by pointing out that millions of welfare recipients and low-income workers are also receiving increases across the board.
