One Nation Tobacco Policy Targets Illegal Trade and Organised Crime

The new One Nation policy on tobacco is about cracking down on organised crime and illegal tobacco. It is not about promoting tobacco. Labor’s approach is failing. Between 2017 and 2025, tobacco consumption has risen by approximately 40%. Illicit sources supply about 80% of all nicotine consumed!

Add to this the associated crimes that are linked directly to the big boost to organised crime that has come about as a result of the legal status quo. Victoria Police claim that there have been 193 tobacco arsons and six homicides directly linked to the trade.

One Nation will cut tobacco excise by 75%, pause indexation for three years and pair the cut with far tougher action on organised crime.

The uniparty has failed on this issue like it has done on so many other issues, and it is everyday Australians paying the price. The new One Nation policy on tobacco is another common-sense policy driven by what works, not ideology or virtue signalling.
