Jason Virgo is the One Nation Member of Parliament for MacKillop, representing communities across South Australia’s South East.

A lifelong local, Jason was raised in Port MacDonnell and has a deep connection to the region. His understanding of MacKillop is grounded in lived experience across its towns, industries and communities, giving him a strong appreciation of both its challenges and its opportunities.

Before entering State Parliament, Jason built a diverse career in public service, security and local government. He began his working life with the District Council of Grant, where his commitment to community was recognised early when he was named Young Citizen of the Year. He later worked on Christmas Island within the immigration detention system, gaining firsthand insight into border security, national policy and the real-world impact of government decision-making.

Jason has extensive experience in the security industry, working across communities including Kalangadoo, Penola, Robe and Naracoorte. He continues to maintain close ties to the people and industries of the South East.

In 2023, Jason was appointed to the City of Mount Gambier Council, where he represented local residents and contributed to decision-making on key community issues. His time in local government reinforced his belief in practical, responsive representation that reflects the everyday concerns of constituents.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Communication and has undertaken further study in mortgage brokering, strengthening his understanding of housing, finance and the pressures facing families and small businesses.

In Parliament, Jason is focused on protecting regional communities, supporting local industries and ensuring the South East has a strong and credible voice. He is committed to practical outcomes that prioritise community safety, economic opportunity and responsible government.
