Keep Politics out of Healthcare
This is deeply concerning. Healthcare workers should not be bringing their politics into how we treat Australians in need of medical care.
Just weeks before Bondi, a medical conference in Perth focused on treating gunshot wounds was cancelled due to pro-Palestine medical professionals threatening to picket the event because one of the speakers was from the Israeli Medical Corps.
Now, even as the country carries out a Royal Commission into antisemitism, pro-Palestine healthcare workers, through a body called the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, are calling for the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency to withdraw the definition of antisemitism it adopted from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.
Why are we allowing this to happen? It doesn’t matter what your view is on any political issue or what is going on in the Middle East. If you’re a healthcare worker, your sole focus should be on treating Australians in need of medical care.
These revelations come in the wake of the news that two nurses threatened to kill Israeli patients in a video. Source article
