Labor's Nuclear Blunder

Nothing demonstrates the Albanese government’s contempt for the intelligence of Australian voters more than their pathetic anti-nuclear scare campaign of three-eyed fish memes.

Remember how they wouldn’t trust us with details of the voice to Parliament? Remember how they think we’re stupid to sort truth from fiction on social media and are introducing legislation so they can do it for us? Remember how they keep telling us “renewables are cheaper” and actually think we’re dumb enough to believe it?

As it turns out, renewables aren’t cheaper and they threaten to drive Australia’s economy right under the ground. According to the experts at Net Zero Australia, our country is going to need to spend up to $1.5 trillion (that’s $1500 billion) before 2030 to meet Labor’s ridiculous renewable energy targets in the reckless pursuit of the net zero fantasy.

The signs are already there. A figure of $100 billion has been cited as the total cost just for the transmission lines to connect Albo’s windmills to the grid. We already know that figure will blow out. Interstate interconnector projects are all running way over budget. HumeLink – a 500kV transmission line in southern New South Wales – is already 250% over budget. The interconnector being built between NSW and South Australia is already $800 million over budget.

While Labor uses taxpayer funding to scare taxpayers with pathetic memes an eight-year-old could make, we’re busy looking at the costs of successful nuclear plant builds overseas. At the higher end, it will likely cost $8-10 billion for a one-gigawatt nuclear plant. If the Coalition’s plan for seven such plants goes ahead, that’s about $56-70 billion. It’s still a lot of money, but it’s much less than the $1500 billion we’ll be paying under Labor’s plan and the outcome will be electricity we can rely upon 24 hours a day – not just when the sun shines and the wind blows.

And if Labor would really have us believe nuclear power is scary and dangerous, why are they supporting the acquisition of nuclear-powered submarines and why haven’t they closed and dismantled the nuclear reactor at Lucas Heights in Sydney, one of Australia’s largest and most crowded cities?

Labor’s childish memes are an insult to our intelligence. Let’s let Labor know what we really think – they’re just too stupid to govern.
