Lee Hanson Explains Why One Nation Is Skipping Tasmania’s Election
Lee Hanson has confirmed Pauline Hanson’s One Nation won’t be contesting the sudden Tasmanian state election set for July, pointing out the party isn’t registered in the state just yet. Unlike the major parties caught up in political theatrics over Hobart’s proposed stadium, One Nation is choosing principle over opportunism. Hanson said neither Labor nor the Liberals can be trusted to manage Tasmania’s finances, especially with both backing what she sees as reckless stadium spending.
She also slammed the timing of this snap election—just 16 months after the last—as a political stunt, calling it a disservice to Tasmanians. While grateful for the local support, Hanson stressed that One Nation is focused on growing its strong federal base and preparing properly for the 2028 Federal election and future state races. With registration now underway, the party refuses to offer Tasmanians anything less than a serious, well-prepared campaign. Hanson says that’s the respect voters deserve—something Labor and the Liberals could learn a thing or two about.
