Major win for pensioners

This week Senator Pauline Hanson has released One Nation’s first policy to tackle the cost of living crisis—a way for pensioners to keep more money in their pockets.

Australians receiving aged pensions or veteran service pensions would be able to work and earn money without any impact on their payments under a new One Nation policy being taken to the 2025 Federal election.

One Nation leader Senator Pauline Hanson said the policy would remove any limits on the capacity for aged pensioners and veterans to work without their payments being affected.

These Australians have earned their pensions after decades of hard work and service to this nation. They should be able to supplement their income with work if they want to, and without those pensions being impacted.

Many of these Australians could meet some of the demand for skilled and experienced workers in a number of critical areas such as aged care, education, agriculture, retail, and public health. This would reduce the need to import workers from overseas and help reduce the high demand for housing in Australia.

It would obviously also help many struggling pension recipients to earn additional income to meet the challenges of Australia’s high inflation and cost of living.

Pensioners earning wages under the policy would be taxed on their incomes like any other worker.

This policy is a winner for the economy, for businesses and government services, for the pensioners, and for the government. It’s a winner for Australia. It’s about ensuring that Australians who want to continue to contribute are able to do so without penalty.

These are the Australians who have the greatest experience and some very unique skills to offer to their country and the economy. One Nation will make sure there is nothing holding them back if they want to keep working.
