Mixed Views on the Budget
One Nation contender Tyler Carman said all Australians had ‘lost out'.
“Our national debt will exceed $1 trillion this financial year and will grow each year, every year, for the next 10 years, leaving our kids and future generations to pay it back,” he said.
“This Budget is not for everyday hard-working Australians, not for small businesses - which are the backbone of the Australian economy-and not for our kids and generations to come.
“Small business owners now have no instant tax write-off, which was $20,000 per annum. This means that the small coffee shop owner who needs a new coffee machine or the fish and chip shop owner who needs a new fryer or fridge will have $0 in instant write-offs.
“Taxpayers will receive a whopping $5 per week tax cut, but you still can't buy a coffee with that $5. And every household that receives the $150 credit on their electricity bill - don't forget that bill will increase under this government by up to nine per cent from 1 July 2025.”
