A message from the General Manager
Written by Kelvin Morton
Every so often, the political landscape in a democracy can reach a moment where the hard work of many years shows itself in the numbers, in the mood of the country, and in the confidence of the people who built it.
If you've been feeling it on the ground, I can tell you that you're not imagining it. It’s genuine, it's real, it’s here.
In 1998, we polled at 8.4%. Through the long years that followed — deregistration, wrongful imprisonment, re-registration, rebuild — we barely held the line at four, five, six percent. Loyal, determined, unglamorous work by Australians refusing to give up on the country they worked so hard to build.
In January, One Nation polled at 23%, and nine months later, we are at 28-30%. That’s not a ‘bounce’. That is the anger of millions of ignored and lied-to Australians preparing to take their country back.
At the Farrer by-election One Nation took 39% of the primary vote. It was a devastating win. It told us that when we are properly resourced, fully backed by our members, our volunteers and our supporters - we are exceptionally effective. Farrer wasn’t luck. It was proof. Proof that when we compete on equal terms we don’t just win – we win big.
Just as importantly, Farrer - a Liberal and National Party held seat for 77 years – also told us something about ourselves and our movement. That when One Nation volunteers turn up, when branches are organised, when donors invest in us, we achieve extraordinary things.
That same orange wave of energy, enthusiasm, discipline and determination arrived in Secret Harbour - a Labor Party stronghold of 37 years - and another 39% primary vote win for One Nation. Proving that, like our candidates, our supporters do not grow in Petrie dishes, and our base is as wide as it is deep.
One Nation has the most comprehensive policy agenda we have ever had. A suite of well-developed solutions to undo the reckless damage to every aspect of Australian life caused by Labor’s chaotic and careless mismanagement.
A plan to slash net migration, to stop the Federal debt, to allow working Australians to redirect super towards paying off their home - and to end the abhorrent, ancestry based two-tier system that 60% of Australia said a flat out “No” to.
These are not slogans. They are the very things Australians have been telling us for twenty-five years – all written down as a program for government that the next prime minister of Australia, Pauline Hanson, can begin implementing from day one of a One Nation government.
Everything now points to the next Federal election – and our opportunity to send Labor into the political wilderness they seem so desperate to live in.
The Victoria campaign is in full flight, New South Wales is preparing, and Tasmania is established. Behind this is the quiet, steady work of the many thousands of you - our members, volunteers and donors — the people who show up, who always put their hand up, who pull on the Orange shirt in towns where it takes courage.
So this week's Orange Corner is simply this: take a moment to look at how far we have come. From 4% to 28%. From just holding the line, to winning seats outright – with no deals and no compromises. From the fringes of the conversation, to being the centre of it. Be proud to be One Nation. You make this movement what it is - exceptional.
From all of us at One Nation HQ - Thank you.
For Australia.
