Lee Hanson Slams Parramatta Council for Political Agenda Over Local Priorities

Lee Hanson has criticised Parramatta Council for focusing on political motions instead of addressing real community needs. The council is set to vote on a motion believed to be tied to comments made by Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, which Lee Hanson described as unnecessary and politically driven.

She argued that councils should stay in their lane and concentrate on the issues that directly affect their residents rather than using ratepayers’ money to push political agendas. She questioned how such a motion could be a genuine community priority, suggesting that most residents would prefer their local representatives to focus on services and infrastructure rather than national political disputes.

Lee Hanson also expressed sympathy for Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, saying the senator has faced continuous criticism without receiving the support she deserves. She acknowledged that while Price’s comments on immigration could have been delivered with more care, the underlying issues she raised were valid and worth discussing openly.

According to Lee Hanson, the council’s actions appear to be a deliberate attempt to appease a small portion of the community rather than serve the broader interests of the people of Parramatta. She concluded that local governments should focus on doing their job rather than engaging in divisive political debates.
