One Nation leader Pauline Hanson was in Western Australia this past weekend offering her support for farmers facing the end of the live sheep export industry, and communities opposing huge offshore wind turbines at Geographe Bay. 

While lawyers were exchanging letters about our latest 'Please Explain’ cartoon about the state of Queensland and whipping the media into a frenzy, Pauline was doing her job, representing the interests of regional communities and rural industries. 

Western Australian farming communities are facing a bleak future as Labor moves ahead with plans to end live sheep exports from Australia in 2028. Thousands of jobs and hundreds of farms are threatened, but Labor refuses to meaningfully consult the industry while it does political deals with parties representing extremist animal rights campaigners who demand an end to all livestock farming and meat and dairy consumption. 

Pauline joined several thousand farmers and their supporters as they converged on the Muresk Institute in Avon Valley on Saturday, where the Federal Parliament’s Standing Committee on Agriculture was holding its only public hearing as part of its enquiry into Labor’s legislation to end live sheep exports. 

One Nation has little confidence the committee will do its job properly, as it has a Labor majority more interested in toeing the line than caring about farmers and rural communities. One Nation in any case supports live sheep exports from Australia because we always fight for the best interests of our world-leading farming sector. 

Pauline was the headline speaker at several events in Perth and regional communities, reflecting One Nation’s growing appeal in the west as that state approaches an election in March next year. 

Pauline also headed down to Bunbury, WA’s largest community outside Perth itself, where locals are up in arms about plans to build a bunch of offshore wind turbines in the pristine waters of Geographe Bay. Hundreds joined her at the rally, calling on the WA Labor government to drop the plans. 

One Nation resolutely opposes offshore wind turbines being built off any part of the Australian coast, both for environmental reasons and for the fact that Australia simply needs to abandon the reckless pursuit of renewable energy and net-zero emissions in order to protect our economy and energy security.
