Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell Secures Motion to Support Farmers

One Nation’s Victorian Member for Northern Victoria, Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell, has successfully passed a motion in Parliament calling for more support for farming families affected by drought and the cost-of-living crisis.

The motion, tabled last Tuesday, highlighted the pressure on farming households. Mrs Tyrrell also raised concerns about the Emergency Services Volunteer Fund levy, which she said was putting extra strain on rural communities.

The Legislative Council passed the motion without opposition on Wednesday.

“This motion is the first step in securing them some financial help, similar to the payments the government made to farmers during the drought of 2019,” Mrs Tyrrell said.

She welcomed the support of other members and urged Premier Jacinta Allan to act on the motion.

“By supporting the motion, government members have acknowledged that more has to be done to help our farmers at this time. Jacinta Allan needs to take action and provide financial assistance to the farmers that work so hard to feed us every day.”

This motion aims to bring direct and practical help to farming communities that are currently under pressure.
