Voice to Parliament - Justifications don't stack up

One of the most important reasons for One Nation’s opposition to an indigenous ‘voice to Parliament’ in Australia’s Constitution is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are already represented by 227 elected voices in Parliament, 11 of which identify as indigenous or part-indigenous themselves – that’s almost 5% of Federal Parliamentarians.

One of the most effective and sensible voices for Aboriginal people in Australia is the new Senator for the Northern Territory, Jacinta Price, who delivered what I consider to be one of the best first speeches ever heard in Parliament.

I heartily recommend that every Australian read or listen to this speech.

It reflects many of my own views on a range of contemporary indigenous issues which have ironically been labelled ‘racist’, probably only because I’m not Aboriginal myself.
