The petition of the undersigned shows:

1. That the Australian National Flag is the enduring symbol of our nation, representing our history, values, and unity.
   
   
   
2. That the deliberate desecration or burning of the Australian Flag is not a harmless act of protest, but a threatening act of aggression, a symbolic call to violence against our country, its institutions, and its people.
   
   
   
3. That many Australians believe such acts should be treated as serious threats to public order and national cohesion.
   
   

Your petitioners therefore request that the Senate:

Take immediate action to make it an offence to willfully burn or desecrate the Australian National Flag.
